Falmouth Academy Appoints Steven D. Lisk as Interim Head of School

The Falmouth Academy Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Steven D. Lisk as Interim Head of School, effective July 15, 2026. Steve will lead the school for the next two years.

The Board sought a leader who could build on the school's momentum, advance its strategic initiatives, and provide stability for the community. After partnering with The Education Group, a search firm specializing in independent schools, the Board unanimously agreed that Steve is the right leader for this moment at Falmouth Academy.

Steve brings more than three decades of experience leading independent schools, including fourteen years as Head at Lancaster Country Day School in Pennsylvania. Most recently, he served as Interim Head at The O'Neal School, and before that, at The Shipley School. Throughout his career, Steve has earned a reputation for thoughtful leadership, a collaborative approach, and a steady hand in guiding school communities through periods of transition. In conversations with those who have worked alongside him, the Board heard consistent praise for his calm, steady leadership style and deep engagement with school communities.

Steve will assume full responsibility for leading Falmouth Academy, working closely with the faculty, staff, administrative team, and Board of Trustees to ensure continuity across every aspect of school life. The school's strategic priorities remain unchanged, including the launch of its five-day boarding program and planning for the celebration of Falmouth Academy's 50th anniversary. The magic that happens in the classroom — between inquisitive students and supportive mentors — remains as strong as ever.

Falmouth Academy looks forward to welcoming Steve and his wife, Kirke, to the community. Steve will be the first Head of School to call Mariner House home, living in the Carriage House on the property.
