Rev. PETER CHENEY
The Rev. Peter Gunn Cheney graduated from The Gunnery School in Washington, CT; from Transylvania University in Lexington, KY with a BA in Economic and Business Administration; from Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, VA with a Masters of Divinity; was ordained in the Episcopal Church in 1975; and was the recipient in 2003 of an honorary doctorate from the University of the South in Sewanee, TN.
With his retirement in 2012, David Dougherty completed 44 years of service in independent schools, including twenty-one years at the Episcopal High School (VA) and nineteen as headmaster of The Hill School (PA). His work in boarding, day, single-sex, and co-educational schools as teacher, administrator, and trustee offers him a distinctive perspective on life in an independent school.
