The Rev. Dr. George E. Conway joins The Education Group after 24 years as Headmaster of St. Anne’s-Belfield School in Charlottesville, VA. His educational background includes:
Wilkes College, BA
Princeton Theological Seminary, M. Div. Boston University, D. Min.
An ordained Presbyterian minister, George began his independent school career teaching at Princeton Day School (NJ) and then became chaplain at Hotchkiss School (CT). George continued his work in school ministry at Woodberry Forest School in VA, and there he also served as the school’s Director of Admissions.
Throughout George’s career his talents have been widely acknowledged through his work with regional and national professional associations. He is a past president of the Virginia Association of Independent Schools and the Council for Religion in Independent Schools. George has worked closely with a number of schools as a consultant in areas of board governance, strategic planning, and school assessment. His work with searches and school leadership provides sound expertise for his new role with The Education Group. Of note also is George’s work as a member of the Virginia Bar Association’s Committee on Issues of State and National Importance and for the Governor of Virginia on the Champion Schools Commission. George has authored a number of professional articles, and his book, Giving Good Gifts: The Spiritual Journey of Parenthood, was published in 2002.
